Children engrossed in African rhythms during Council's Let's Celebrate Fair

In 2009, Randwick City Council celebrated 150 years of local government. Sharing the area’s rich cultural history with the community was a key objective in 2009, particularly since Randwick was one of the first Councils to be incorporated in NSW.

Council’s sesquicentenary provided an opportunity to educate, enthral and engage the community through a year of cultural enrichment. A series of events were planned for the year with the aim of reinforcing a sense of “Randwick pride”. By experiencing the City’s past through a variety of cultural events, our aim was to better equip our community to create a positive future based on knowledge, understanding and inclusion.
