Ingleburn Library and Community Centre
Campbelltown City Council (5 other projects)
The Ingleburn Library and Community Centre redevelopment was a major construction and placemaking project undertaken by Campbelltown City Council. The existing 1940's building was demolished to make way for an expanded facility. The building incorporated a range of energy efficient and green principles, integrated the facade of the historic School of Arts building, completely transformed Hallinan Park and engaged in a comprehensive programme of consultation and communication, During the project, the community were able to access a blog, that detailed building progress through text and photography (http://ingleburnlibrary.blogspot.com). Central to the buildings design was the incorporation of public art elements which depict the lives, experience and diversity of the Ingleburn community through oral history, photography and audio video installation.
The Centre opened in March 2009 during a gala event attended by of 7,000 members of the local community who have since made great use of the Library and community centre.
